i haven't posted in three whole months...

my house is a mess
my hairdryer is collecting dust
there is mail and magazines scattered...everywhere
my list of people to call back...
and thank you's to write...
is enormous (sorry friends!)

but i have a crawler.
and i feel that that is enough said.

my baby girl is growing up so fast! how was it only four months ago that we were two terrified parents who cradled every bit of this little baby's body so that nothing would break. above...a picture of her first time sitting up straight in her bumbo chair. it seems like every day is a new first...and every bit of it is so fun to watch.

...and i am trying to just take it all in because these little moments...they go so fast.

...and just in case you didn't already know...we are so in love.

hi, it's me.

just checking in to let you know that..

1. i really like this article about why people are always saying they are sooooo busy. i will never say i am too busy. even if i am too busy. promise.

2. i have discovered pop rocks chocolate. my co-worker brought it back from israel and my life will never be the same. people come to talk to me at my desk and my mouth is fizzing. awful/amazing.

3. i woke up in the middle of the night excited that i could fall back asleep and sleep in in the morning. then i realized it was monday night. and that i have a baby. oh boy...this is going to be a long week.

4. is summer over, really?

holy vacation.

i mean, i really needed some time at the beach. last week we got in the car and drove on down to our family beach house in pensacola. it was so much fun introducing skylar to the ocean and seeing her cute little toes in the sand. every morning we woke up (at 6am...welp) and drank coffee out on the porch while watching dad surf. and even though we weren't able to do some things due to her miniature's these little moments I cherish with her and I can't wait to make more memories as she gets older at my favorite place on earth. oh, and special thanks to my mom for giving me a couple of hours each day with my book and a bloody mary/bud light/mimosa/sangria to myself. much needed for sanity reasons.

here are a couple of cute pics...

until next year...

sunday. skylar and i surprised dad with homemade lasagna and the tv on the golf channel when he got home from work. it's the little things.

monday. i managed to put on a pair of black pants that hadn't fit me in over a year. i did my celebration dance (you know the one) and then looked out the window to see neighbors walking their dog and staring right at me. awesome/mortifying moment.

tuesday. kristen stewart cheats on robert pattinson. all down time at work is now spend reading about this situation and reporting to my girlfriends any updates which I am sure they are THRILLED to be receiving every five minutes.

wednesday.  heartwarming conversations with two of our best friends asking them to by skylar's godparents. beautiful moments.

thursday.  my nana showed up at my house with my fifteen year old cousin. they both had just gotten their ears double pierced and nana had purchased herself a hello kitty sweater. gotta keep em young, y'all.

friday. it's 7am and i am alone in the house for what feels like the first time ever. tonight husband is cooking his really yummy chicken dish and our snuggle up on the couch and watch the opening ceremonies of the olympics. have a great weekend!

i think it's okay if on tuesdays...

all you do is stare at your office wall and be completely unproductive.

sidenote: tuesday is also known as "textual tuesday" by my friend rebes.
(which i am fully embracing and i suggest you do as well)

..and yes, that is a bottle of hand sanitizer. complete germaphobe.

thanks for sending me this pic of the view from your suite in your fabulous hotel in ft lauderdale, while you lounge poolside and soak in the sun while having hours of girl talk and more martinis than i can dream about.

i'll just keep sitting here on my couch, eating a jar of cookie butter, changing diapers, having a keeping up with the kardashians marathon and wishing i could do it all.

my island favorites

we are heading to my hometown this week, hilton head island. believe me, i know i am extremely lucky to call this place home...i love how people are like, people actually live there?! so cute. but i think what people don't realize is that the food in hilton head is seriously good. in fact, as soon as mikie and i plan a trip down we make our mental list of must have food items. And seeing as i am continuously asked for good restaurant suggestions by friends and co-workers going there on vacay, i figured i might as well compile a little list of our favorites.

santa fe cafe southwestern cuisine. i seriously go here every time i come home for one thing only...the chimichangas. and the margaritas of course. they have an outside terrace and an adorable little man playing spanish songs on the guitar. perfect spot to meet friends.

stu's surf side this is husband's pick. he always hits this place up for their calibogue sandwich, it's the number 18....and a new stu's koozie (we seriously have like 50 of them).

hinoki sushi!! in fact, my favorite sushi anywhere. i have scoured atlanta for anything comparable and truly...there is nothing as good. pretty much every local is in love with the tuna carpaccio from this place. i heart hinoki.

frankie bones i used to work here so of course it's on my list of favorites - i crave this food more than any other. i could shed a tear over the meatballs. it has a swanky little rat pack theme and is kid friendly. make sure someone at your table gets the coffee spiced ribeye. trust.

hilton head ice cream only listed because i am addicted to their oreo ice cream. they were closed when i was visiting while pregnant and i thought life was over.

black marlin and sunrise cafe my two favorite breakfast spots. they are located right next to each other and honestly it is a debate every sunday i am home because on one hand, sunrise has my favorite breakfast burrito of life and on the other hand, black marlin has the best three dollar bloody mary's. i know, toughest decision of life. did i mention water views....

amigo's yep, mexican. i used to go here every friday after school and get the chicken quesadilla. i have moved on to a bbq chicken salad obsession. there are two locations so its pretty much a can't miss every time i am home, and often times a to go order for the ride back to atl.

other favorites include truffles, new york city pizza, sage room and old fort pub.

great, now i'm hungry.

with love from sunday

sometimes i have moments like these. when my hair has been stuck in a towel for two hours, when the tv is on the golf channel and i can't reach the remote, when i am a combination of starving and sleep deprived. but...its sunday afternoon and the two loves of my life are here. one snoring away to my right and the other cozied up on my chest.
and i am the happiest i have ever been.

we're havin' a heat wave....

{image via etsy}

even though i have no idea what day it is...i do know one thing for sure...summer is officially here. and although things are a little different this time around, i plan to fully embrace my favorite time of year. summer hit list. all the things i would like to do this summer, that soon as i stop looking like i just got off a flight from antartica.

pinot grigio and mussels at jct kitchen*
take skylar to see the ocean
camp or glamp
ride my bike
make popsicles
breakfast and coffee at the park
oreo ice cream at hilton head ice cream
outdoor concert
wear lots of bright nail polish
float in the lake

*i love how the first thing on my list is alcohol related, typical

my friend kelly told me years ago, before babies were even on the radar, that the sound and sight of your husband with your child is pure magic and that you will fall in love all over again. over the years that really stuck with me and let me tell you ladies, it really is true. there really is nothing better in this world that seeing how much mikie loves our child, and even better, is hearing him   have conversations with her in his baby voice. it is...pure magic.

happy first father's day husband. xx

the baby that won't come out. the mom that keeps on eating. the sanity that went missing. the husband that is a saint.

i think its important to note that i am one of the least patient people on the planet. so when that little due date came and went last saturday...the insanity went into full gear. that being said, i know that she will arrive when she's good and ready and there is little i can do about it so despite the long walks, yard work, spicy food, etc. i have resigned to settling in for a good movie marathon and try to keep the crazy to a minimum.

so while i have some time on my hands, i thought i would share my pregnancy life-savers. the items that have been in heavy rotation in my life for the past nine months and that i couldn't have done without.

1. savannah bee company royal jelly body butter by some grace of god i have completely escaped stretch marks on my stomach. being prone to stretch marks (see: thighs) i can only believe that this body butter, which i have slathered on every night for nine months is my savior. the best part is that one jar lasts forever...i went through only three my entire pregnancy. i really can't say enough about this stuff, its just the best.

2. peach flavored sparkling water my pregnant friend emily introduced me to this stuff a few months ago and since then i have been completely addicted. being limited to water (and coffee, don't tell) really gets boring and this has been my lifesaver in the beverage department. i dream of the day i can add vodka.

3. aveda foot relief holy. amazingness. let me preface this by saying i have an awesome husband who have given me foot rubs pretty often and rarely complained. (i said rarely, not never). he gave me this lotion for christmas and it smells like peppermint and feels like complete heaven. i think half the reason he is so willing to rub my feet is that he likes how it smells.

4. splendid black leggings my uniform for the past months has largely consisted of these leggings and various tanks/tees. i have worn these so much that mine have holes in them now. but seriously, these are the most comfortable leggings you will ever own. and if you love yourself, you will get these and never look back.

5. j.crew cabin socks again with the comfort factor. listen...its all i have. just buy 500 pairs of cabin socks like i did and call it a day. see above pic for reference.

okay...back to bad tv and constant obsessing. xx.

the cutest dresses for the blueberry! peek kids dresses found here.
avocado grilled cheese sandwiches...literally just sourdough bread, white cheddar, avocado and tomatoes. so yummy! (adapted from here) xx

a month i thought would never come

{35 weeks}

april! i love you.

i'm not going to sit here and complain...i save that for when husband gets home. i am just going to simply say that those girls who say they love pregnancy...liars. pregnancy is tough. and wonderful. and exciting. but tough.

but waking up this morning with the promise of one last month before we meet the love of our lives...the most rewarding feeling of all. plus...i am pretty sure she's ready too...just based on the constant party happening in my belly. i guess now we have to install the car seat that has made its home our dining room table. and go on our last date night. and sterilize things. and...oh god. only one more month! xx

Saturday, February 25, 2012

the sweet:
-husband painted the baby room and it made me love him even more. there is just something really cute about him getting his little girls room ready. tear.

-getting asked to be a bridesmaid in my friend caitlin's wedding via the cutest little personalized card. even sweeter, the nice comments she made about me on her website. soul mates.

-thank you food gods for picking the one fat free candy in the world to be my food craving. swedish fish, i love you.

-february! three more months to go people, let's do this.

the sour:
-the ugly cries i had while watching 50/50 the other night. you know the ones...brutal.

-i told my mom that i would be a bridesmaid in september (4 months post pregnancy). her comment: "well, there is always one fat bridesmaid." followed by the sound of her cracking up at her own joke. i think that's enough said.

-the two year waitlists at daycares in atlanta:
me: "um, so when do people typically get on this waitlist?"
lady: "before they are pregnant"
me: "is that normal?"
lady: "well around here you have to be prepared"
me: "i see"
you guys, i am failing at parenting already!

hello lover: society social bar carts

part of the reason i started this little blog was to share things that i love. any friend of mine can attest that i am constantly doing this in my real life and definitely needed an outlet for all my crushes.

have you discovered society social yet? holy cute bar carts and furniture. i feel like the bar cart is making a big ole comeback and why not...everyone loves to display that they like to have a good time, no? i love the idea of making a bar cart into a side table too (see above). multifunctional, you see.

below... some of my favorites from their line.

a glimpse.

{max wanger image via}

ugh, i can't believe it's sunday again and this is the only time i have to post something. it's been busy busy at that little hotel i work at and i have been pulling weekends and longer hours...which in pregnancy speak means all i do when i come home is rest up for the next day. boring! tomorrow husband and i are off to daycare land to try and figure out the best home away from home for baby girl. oh, and doing taxes too. i know...try to contain your jealousy.

in the meantime, here are some things i am obsessing over lately...

the 'keep calm' themed baby shower my friend bee threw

these new blog finds:
laybabylay: for the best nursery inspiration
mrs. lilien styling house: hilarious. creative. kate spade addict.

this tory burch bag for spring

nursery wall decor...recent purchases including this, this and this. yay!

porn for pregnant ladies

have a great week friends! xx

Sunday, January 22, 2012

i've been wearing these shoes an awful lot,
living off of white cheddar popcorn, pb&j and pizza,
reading books on how to get your baby to sleep through the night,
lighting lavender incense, (to help with the panic attacks i have thinking about never sleeping again)
picking out paint colors and fabric swatches,
thinking about summertime,
'pinning' everything in sight,
watching baby girl wiggle around like crazy,
falling more and more in love.

Sunday, January 15, 2012
